We are engaged in the continuous reading of Paul’s Letter to the Church at Galatia. Having addressed the is-sue that there is only one Gospel and that we are justified by God’s grace through Jesus Christ alone, Paul now addresses the issue of living as a justified person. We are in the season of the Church Year, Pentecost, where we consider the life of the Church and our living as individual members of the Body of Christ. How we live as God’s beloved children reflects positively or negatively on our Gospel proclamation. The apostle to the Gentiles encourages the Galatians, and us, to “walk by the Spirit” (Gal 5:16, 25). In this walking, we let our light shine before others so they see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. The word of the Gospel is confirmed by the life of God’s children, and proclamation continues to bear fruit.
