Worship Service for March 9, 2025

Mar 9, 2025    Rev. Daryn Bahn

As the season of Lent begins, so also begins our journey to the cross with our Lord Jesus. We are drawn back to the exhortations of Moses in our Old Testament Reading. Moses prepares Israel for entrance into the Promised Land. Their journey would not be easy. It would require God's continued presence and the devotion of his holy and consecrated people. Heart and soul would have to be engaged. They needed to trust and rely upon the truth of God's Word and its power. Yet it would not be a difficult truth, hard for them to understand. Our Gospel takes us to the start of the Passion of Christ. Temptations would lie ahead for Jesus, but Satan's powerful allures using God's Word could not overcome the One who was himself the source of God's Word. Our Lord's reliance upon the Scriptures throughout his own temptations reinforces the message of the sermon for this Sunday: God's truth is easy, and it is powerful.
