Worship Service for September 8, 2024

This section of Mark is filled with Jesus traveling from place to place, teaching and healing. Both his words and his deeds point to his identity and his authority. Of course, the high point of this section is Peter’s confession in Mk 8:27-30. But we aren’t there yet. Jesus made quite a claim in 7:8 ("You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men") and is backing his words up by loving, serving, teaching, and healing regardless of man-made designations of clean and unclean. Why? Because he is God incarnate. He is love incarnate. By doing all of these things, Jesus shows that he is the Son of God.
